I'm a little older than Chonkosaurus and the Clean Water Act. When the eggs she's carrying hatch, they will be born into a profoundly different-better!-world than she was. She's lived through the entirety of the river recovery. Chonkosaurus hatched about 50 years ago-in other words, she was born at the same time as the Clean Water Act passed. Now it's a nice place to go kayaking on a sunny weekend!īut they never quite connected the dots. The article went on to say that the Chicago River had essentially been an open sewer before the passage of the Clean Water Act in 1973. The wildlife biologist estimated her weight at 40 pounds (18kg) and her age at 50 years based on photos and video. According to a wildlife biologist they quote, she's female and probably full of eggs, one reason she looks so.chonky. The New York Times had an article about "Chonkosaurus", a very large snapping turtle spotted in the Chicago River. Pinned Post introducing myself writers on tumblr I do not care very much what pronouns people use to talk about me, but in general my preference goes (from most to least preferred): they/them -> neopronouns and he/him (tied) -> she/her and it/its (tied, both still basically fine). If you want to read one of my books or stories but are concerned about triggers and/or age appropriateness, feel free to message me– I can point you to the tamer stuff, or the stuff that doesn’t touch on a particular triggering subject. Please be aware that I do not usually use content warning tags on blog posts, and although I intend to keep posts on this tumblr more or less PG-13 rated, a lot of my writing contains graphic and potentially disturbing content. Although it’s a little chaotic to look at, it does provide a comprehensive and up-to-date list of both my published work and the various places I am active online.

That said, if you have a question for me (general, related to writing, about my writing– really, about anything except my personal life or yours), please don’t hesitate to ask! I’m creating this tumblr as a space to post about my work and, maybe, cultivate professional connections in the event that Twitter, where I’ve been active since 2019, goes down.

I also sometimes write poetry, essays, SFF, and fiction aimed at more of a teen audience, but none of that is my primary passion or my bread and butter. I’m an author and I write mostly fabulist and horror/horror-adjacent quasi-literary fiction for adults.
